Support Workers at Nhulunbuy
Relocate to Nhulunbuy and join Carers NT as a Disability Support Worker!! We are looking for people who are positive, innovative and focused on enhancing the quality of life for individuals. This role will support our participants in a culturally appropriate manner and allow our participants choice and control in who supports them.
Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping clients with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence and community integration.
Responsibilities:
- Support participants with daily tasks with the aim of enhancing their independence, comfort and quality of life
- Provide emotional support and companionship to participants
- Providing support for participants to access social and community activities which may include shopping, transport and community activities
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions
- Assist participants with personal care, cooking, and household tasks in accordance with the participants care plan.
- Encouraging individuals in a positive manner to make choices and participate in decisions about their daily lives and ensuring dignity, privacy and security are maintained
- Maintain confidentiality on all issues related to Carers NT participants and teams
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the best possible care for participants
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
Qualifications:
- Qualifications in Aged care, Disability or Community Care Services Work or equivalent (Minimum Certificate III)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeaner
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors and situations
As part of your role, it is essential that you have the ability to meet all mandatory compliance requirements in line with Carers NT policies and procedures, this includes:
- Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card)
- Police Check issued within the last 6 months
- Evidence of Australia work rights (current passport or Australian birth certificate)
- First Aid and CPR
- NDIS Worker Orientation module (https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (https://forms.pfes.nt.gov.au/safent/)
- NT drivers licence
