Do you care for someone living with a disability or mental health issue? There are support services available to you in the Northern Territory.
Support services offered by Carers NT
Volunteer program for care recipients with a disability
We can connect you with a volunteer to help the person you care for get involved in social activities that interest them.
We’ll pair them with a volunteer with the same interests and who will commit time to visiting and providing friendship support. This could include going for a drive, dropping in for cuppa, shopping or going to the football and building relationships with other spectators.
Volunteers support these clients on a weekly or fortnightly basis, providing friendship and supporting them to reconnect with the community.
Better Start program
We can help you register for this national program for children with a disability. The Better Start for Children with Disability initiative provides funding for early intervention services.
Short-term and emergency respite
If something comes up or you need a break at short notice, we can arrange in-home, residential or community-based respite from one hour to overnight.
