Young Carers – Our role to assist you in yours

Carers NT aims to make a positive difference in the lives of the Top End Carers and their families. We provide a wide range of Carer Gateway support services. We have a dedicated Young Carer Support Planner who works one-on-one with young carers aged 12 to 25 through a range of initiatives aimed at reducing challenges and increasing opportunities for positive outcomes.

We assist young carers with:

• Care support planning
• Providing advice, information and resources
• Online carer skills courses
• Emotional support
• Referrals services
• Counselling
• Self-guided Couching
• Financial support to help young carers with their education and employment

We actively engage with service providers and educational institutions to educate staff, increase awareness and supports for young carers in the Top End community. We help raise awareness within the community about the role of young carers and the services available to support them by participating in community conferences, expos and events.

You don’t have to know exactly what to ask for – you can just talk through any problems you are having, and Young Carer Support Planner will try to match you with services that can help.
